Centered around Katherine Minola, one of theatre’s greatest heroines, audiences will enjoy an evening of high friction flirting. One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, The Taming of the Shrew is full of banter, wit, scheming servants, and lovers bold in disguise. Staging Shrew as simply as possible with hints of the Bogart, Bacall, and Sinatra Rat Pack era, Theatre Under the Trees puts Shakespeare’s lively story of two sisters in its original frame as a play performed by a traveling troupe of actors, upping the farce with pratfalls and lightning quick comic timing. ![]() A three piece band and a tenor singing hits from the early 50’s like “Mambo Italiano” and “Satin Doll” set the mood for a night of laughter and flirting with Theatre Under the Trees’ nineteenth summer production, The Taming of the Shrew.
